3 Tips to Mentally Prepare Yourself for an Estate Sale

Are you scheduled to have an estate sale in the near future? Is this something you’re interested in planning? If so, it’s safe to say that you’re both excited and anxious about the event.

With this in mind, it’s imperative to mentally prepare yourself for everything that could come your way. Here are three tips for doing so:

1. Don’t Set Unrealistic Expectations

An example of this would be an expectation to sell $100,000 worth of items when you know that this will never happen. There’s nothing wrong with wanting the best from your estate sale, but don’t set yourself up for disappointment.

2. It’s Okay for People to Enter Your Home

Some people freak out over the idea of others walking through their home. They worry that the floors will be damaged. They worry that walls will be dented when items are removed.

While there’s no denying that something could happen, it’s not likely that anything major will occur. For peace of mind, talk to your estate sale company about their process for avoiding this. Also, make sure your home insurance policy is active and that your company is also carrying active liability coverage.

3. Be Happy with the End Result

Regardless of what you’re trying to accomplish, you should always realize one thing to be true: you’ll be better off when everything is said and done. For instance, if you had an estate sale to de-clutter, any items you sell will free up space in your home.

What do you think about these three tips? Will they help you mentally prepare for an estate sale?
