Last week, we provided some basic information on collecting Hot Wheels (and why it can be so much fun).
This time around, we’re going to dive into the finer details with hopes of providing you additional information for growing your collection and enjoying every purchase you make.
First things first, you need to answer this question: what should you collect?
There is no right or wrong answer, but most collectors find that establishing a theme puts them in a good place.
For example, you may decide that you only want to collect muscle cars. Or maybe you focus most your time and attention on BMW Hot Wheels, red cars (or any other color), or those from a particular year or decade.
As you collect, the most important thing is that you have an enjoyable time. After all, that’s what Hot Wheels are all about!
Also, you should consider what you can do to add value to your collection. Generally speaking, this comes down to three things:
The best way to increase the value of your collection is to purchase in demand cars in mint condition. Furthermore, and despite the temptation, keep them in the box (as opposed to playing with them).
Where to Buy
You probably know that you can purchase new Hot Wheels at local retail stores and department stores. However, if you want to add older models to your collection, you should consider the following:
· Estate sales
· Flea markets
· Garage sales
· Other collectors
When you search locally, such as at an estate sale, the hunt alone adds to the excitement. Then, when you find the Hot Wheels you’ve been looking for, you’re sure to feel a jolt of adrenaline.
Now that you know what to collect, how to increase the value of your collection, and where to buy, it’s time to start your search!
