Can You Get a Discount at an Estate Sale?

As somebody who spends time at an estate sale, you know that there is nothing better than finding a great deal.

While a discount may be what you’re looking for, you have to exercise some patience if you’re to save money on the listed price of a particular item.

Generally speaking, items are discounted as the estate sale wears on. In other words, you have a better chance of receiving a discount on the final day of an estate sale, as opposed to the opening day.

Note: discounts often come about towards the end of an event, but there is no guarantee that this will happen. Sometimes, a discount is never made available as there comes a point when the donation value exceeds the sale value.

The best thing you can do is get on board with the idea that every item is fairly priced from the get-go. With this approach, any discount will simply “sweeten the pot.”

If an item is too rich for your blood, you don’t have to make a purchase right away. Instead, you can hope that it will be available and discounted by the end of the weekend. Of course, there is an issue with this: somebody else could make a purchase while you’re “playing the game.”

When you visit an estate sale, do so with the idea that items are priced fairly for both the buyer and the seller. When you take this approach, you’ll always feel that you are getting a good deal. And if you’re lucky enough to land a discount, it’s icing on the cake!
