Four Sales, Ltd., founded in 1972, is the leading and most innovative estate sales company in the Washington metropolitan area. During the past 52+ years, Four Sales has conducted and presented over 3,000 estate sales and served over 7,00 clients in the Greater DC-Metro Area. Four Sales has headquarters in Alexandria, Virginia and field offices in Charlottesville, Virginia and Annapolis, Maryland.
The company serves approximately 450 client per year with estate sale, auciton, or appraisal services. These sales events include include small, large and historic homes, as well as condominiums and townhouses in the District of Columbia, Maryland, Virginia and West Virginia. When an estate sale is not the solution, Four Sales offers auction services to satisfy the demand for smaller consignments.
We pride ourselves on serving our clients with compassion and professionalism while offering our customers a pleasant Estate Sale shopping experience.
Additionally, wherever the services of the company were exclusively requested, estate sales have also been presented in other states – Pennsylvania and Florida.

Four Sales prides itself in presenting estates with energy, integrity and intelligence. The company has over 40 years in the estate sales business and is backed by over 3000 satisfied clients who would attest to the essential attributes necessary to feature successful estate sales. The company consistently sells 90-95% of the value and 80-85% of the contents of each estate sale event. References are always provided gladly.
Four Sales, Ltd. presents a wealth of experience and valuable advice to heirs and/or executors facing the task of liquidating an estate. Our services may also meet the needs of someone downsizing to a retirement community or relocating to another area. Four Sales works with the client to develop a liquidation plan that meets the needs of the client, e.g. timing, contents and accessibility of the home.
Options include an on-premise estate sale, consigning individual pieces and removal of contents for auction and/or charity. Together with representatives of an estate, tasks are set and timetables established for complete liquidation of the property while maximizing profits. Four Sales will work with the Four Sales receiving a commission remuneration for all services provided with services being tailored to meet the specific requirements of the estate. This method of disposing of household contents helps the seller realize top dollar for the sales household property.
The Four Sales team understands that the liquidation of a lifetime of possessions- be it one’s own or a loved one’s- can be a traumatic event. Four Sales brings not only compassion but also the ability to resolve the situation. Four Sales will make recommendations for the full clearance of the property and provide the needed logistical support to achieve it. The company’s advance promotions, print and web advertising and proprietary mailing list ensure the maximum number of customers are made aware of the individual client events.
Meet the Owner
President & CEO
Daniel Sanders has run Four Sales for more than 14 years after taking over from the founders after 34 years. He brings more than 15 years of international business operations experience to Four Sales Ltd. In the 1990’s, Sanders ran a 32-country business for Minnesota, Mining and Manufacturing (3M) in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Since returning to the United States, Daniel has worked with start-up businesses in the United States and Canada to attract investors and accelerate business growth to realize their sales objectives.
Daniel’s expertise in improving operations, sales, marketing and brand management has given him a very large network of supporters and contacts in the local area, as well as throughout the United States. The network he has built since returning to the United States in 1999 is a valuable resource for the clients served by Four Sales.

Daniel is also a founding board member of the newly established National Estate Sales Association (NESA) and currently its Treasurer, a member of the United Professional Sales Association (UPSA), the former President of Business Network International’s Alexandria and Vienna Chapters, Potomac ExecutiveBiz, the Irish Angels Venture Capital organization, the Boston University Alumni Association, a former member of the TipClub, an annually a judge of the University of Notre Dame’s McCloskey Business Plan Competition, a member of the Mount Vernon-Lee Chamber of Commerce and a former board member, and several other local business and philanthropic organizations. Sanders regularly serves as a charity auctioneer for DC-area charities and helps them raise approximately $1,000,000 per year without charging for his services..
Daniel is responsible for overseeing all day-to-day operations of the company including sales, marketing, advertising, accounting, logistics, and client relations.
Daniel has his Masters of Science in Management and International Marketing from Boston University and an undergraduate degree in economics from Drew University in Madison, New Jersey. He lives in Alexandria with his wife Karen (a four-generation native of DC), and has two talented adult daughters.
Four Sales, Ltd. was founded by four enterprising Northern Virginia women in 1972. The logo of the company is a silhouette of four gals in royal blue with a bright yellow color background. Four Sales’ distinctive blue and yellow “Estate Sale 9-3” signs can be seen weekly in Northern Virginia, DC and Maryland.
When he purchased the company in 2006, Daniel committed to keeping the level of professionalism, energy, and integrity for which the company is known. He has done so successfully. An effort which has led to multiple awards of the Angie’s List Super Service Award and the company being recognized in 2012 and 2013 on the Inc 5000 list of fastest growing privately held companies in the United States.

Four Sales Ltd did a fine job preparing the home for the estate sale including extensive trash removal in advance of the sale and with detailed pricing on the many items on display. We received a detailed accounting for the items that were sold during the three day event within 2 weeks of its end. The one minor complaint I have is that the signage along the road leading to the home could have been more pervasive and positioned better than it ultimately was, but we received good foot traffic all the same in spite of the ongoing pandemic.
