Donate Items before Planning an Estate Sale

estate sale organizationThere are many benefits of planning an estate sale. Not only does this provide the opportunity to rid your home of clutter, but you can also make a lot of money along the way. Talk about a win-win!

Before you get started, however, here is something to consider: set aside items you wish to donate.

It is safe to assume there are many items in your home that will sell at your estate sale. Conversely, there are other items that are best off being donated. In addition to clearing space for the items that have a better chance of selling, this gives you the opportunity to do good for somebody else.

Do you need help? It is not always easy to decide which items to donate and which ones to sell at an estate sale. This is where we can assist. We can work with you, one step at a time, to decide what to do with each item you want to get rid of. Some are best for the “donation pile.” Others are best to be sold.

Regardless of where you live, and despite charities getting more selective about what categories they accept for donation, you should not have any trouble finding a local organization to work with. For example, The Salvation Army is more than willing to take most items off your hands. Note that most charities take your donated items and sell them to fulfill their charitable mission so you may also want to look for local charities that give the items you donate directly to needy people in your community. Many charities that operate in this manner are faith-based.
