Don’t Forget to Clean Out Your Storage Shed

When spring cleaning, you spend a good amount of time inside your home. And once you’re done there, you probably find yourself in your garage.

While it’s important to focus your time and energy here, don’t forget about your storage shed. It requires just as much attention.

Here are some tips to follow when cleaning out your shed:

•    Remove everything first: As an outdoor dwelling, there’s a good chance your shed has accumulated everything from dirt to debris to spider webs. You want to clear out everything so you have a blank slate and clear idea of what you’re up against.

•    Clean it from top to bottom: Start with an air blower to remove any loose debris and materials. From there, vacuum out anything that’s left behind. It may not look as good as new upon completion, but it should be close.

•    Decide what to do with the items you removed: Separate them into three piles: keep in the shed, throw out, and sell. For example, you may want to store all your outdoor equipment, such as your lawnmower and trimmer, in the shed. However, if you have an old lawnmower in working order, now’s the time to sell it.

With these tips guiding you, you’ll find it easier to clean out your storage shed. And once you’re done, you’ll realize that it wasn’t nearly as bad as you thought it would be.
