Estate Sale Clothing: Should you Buy?

While many people scour estate sales in search of collectibles, art, and other items for their home, there are those who take a different approach: these people are interested in buying clothes.

The thought of buying clothing at an estate sale may scare you. How will you know if it is clean? How can you be assured that you are getting a good deal? These are just a couple of the questions that will go through your mind.

Just the same as anything else, you need to use your best judgment when buying clothes at an estate sale. As long as you are patient and stick with clothes that fit your criteria, you never have to worry about spending money on something you will never wear.

Here are a few things to keep in mind:

1. Don’t assume that all the clothes you find at an estate sale will be vintage. You may be surprised to find some items that appear “as good as new.”

2. If vintage is your thing, an estate sale is a great place to start. Just because you may find newer clothing it does not mean this is always the case. If you want to take your style back in time, an estate sale is a great place to start.

3. Check the condition. Just the same as any other item you can purchase, check the condition and overall quality of the clothing before making a purchase. If a piece is old, run down, and full of holes, it may be best to leave for the next person.

Whether or not you purchase clothes at an estate sale is up to you. If nothing else, take a closer look at a few items that catch your eye. You never know when you will find something that suits your style.
